THE PRACTICE TEAM

Business & Practice Manager

Ms Ronnie Godfrey

Receptionists

All our receptionists have had training to maintain the high standards of the practice. They have a lot of information at their fingertips and they are able to answer many of your queries themselves. Should you request an urgent appointment, the receptionists may want to know some medical details so the doctor can prioritise the problem. Anything you tell them will be treated in absolute confidence. We ensure that all of our practice staff sign, in their contract of employment, a code of confidentiality to safeguard patients' personal matters.

Rest assured that the rules of confidentiality apply equally to all practice staff, doctors and nurses.

If you are in doubt about anything, ask the receptionist who will be able to advise you.

Please help them to help you.

Nurse Practitioner

Mrs Sue Earl

The nurse practitioner works alongside the medical and nursing staff to provide patients with an alternative service where patients can discuss health and illness problems, and where explanation of illness and prevention of ill health take a high priority.

The nurse practitioner is an experienced nurse with further qualifications to equip her to diagnose and treat common problems seen in general practice, and to assess patients with more serious health problems who may then be referred to other relevant medical services. The nurse practitioner can prescribe a wide range of medication for common illnesses.

Practice Nurses

The practice nurses are available by daily appointments. Their duties include immunisations, removal of stitches, cervical smears, ear syringing, blood pressure checks and contraception prescriptions and advice. They also run clinics for childhood vaccinations, diabetics, asthma, heart disease services, wound care and catheter care.

Health Care Assistant

Our health care assistant assists the doctors and practice nurses with many duties including minor operations, coil insertion, and assisting with the diabetic clinic. She also sees patients herself in booked clinics for all blood pressure checks (and can issue repeat prescriptions for blood pressure medication), new patient health checks, injections like flu and tetanus, weight and lifestyle advice. The health care assistant clinic appointments are freely available.

Health Visitor

The health visitor gives advice about health care for pre-school children. She holds an open access clinic on a Monday afternoon at the Selsdon Baptist Church.

District Nurses

The doctors may arrange for district nurses to visit you at home. Messages for the district nurses can be left for them on 020 8714 2750.

Community Midwife

The midwife is an independent professional. She works alongside the doctors to address all aspects of pregnancy care, delivery and postnatal care. She holds regular clinics at Sanderstead Clinic, Rectory Road, by appointment.

Dietician

We hold regular clinics at the surgery and the dietician will be pleased to give you advice if you are referred to her by the doctor.

Community Psychiatric Nurses

The doctors may arrange for the community psychiatric nurses to assist in the care of patients with psychological and psychiatric problems. These specialist nurses can be contacted at the Crescent Day Hospital on 01689 842939.

Phlebotomist

A phlebotomist visits the practice daily to carry out blood tests on our patients. This improves care and convenience, saving a trip to the hospital. Blood tests are normally organised only by the doctors.
